Opryland Hotel Re-opens for Christmas

The flooding earlier this year was a tragic time for not only Nashville but country music itself. This past Thursday, November 18, 2010 the breathtaking Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center reopened with the famous Christmas lighting ceremony. We got very lucky and a couple hours before a friend had 2 extra tickets to “Greater Together 2010” a fundraising concert for flood victims featuring Craig Morgan and Trace Adkins after the lighting! Unfortunately with it being last second we were unable to make it in time for Craig Morgan (but we have seen him live before and if you get a chance he puts on an AMAZING show). There was no parking close to the hotel because of the Opryland Mall being closed due to damages from the flooding. The parking available is pretty pricy for my budget, but lucky there is a church across the interstate that provides free parking and a shuttle bus (that ends at 11pm FYI). Cheryl and I literally ran thru the hotel (breaking a highheel in the process, but a small price to pay) to make it to see Trace Adkins taking the stage. They played in one of the ballrooms. It’s hard to find the words to describe the scene we walked in to. It was like a fancy fall carnival! There were tents set up with all types of food, drinks, and games. There were also candle light picnic tables with fresh sunflowers everywhere. The show was very intimate; I would take a good guess of 500 or less people. Most were sitting so there was not a bad view in the room. The concert was nothing short of absolutely incredible! So much energy and excitement led to never ending applause. Having seen Trace put on a great show before was nothing compared to the one he gave us that night! After the concert we walked out of the room and right into Rascal Flatts finishing up their performance! It was such a wonderful night and we are still very thankful for the opportunities that we have.
