Chefs, connoisseurs and gourmands kick off festival season
The Board of Directors of the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience (NOWFE) announce new dates for the 2020 event. Previously scheduled for April 15-19, the 27th annual event will now take place March 18-22. French Quarter Festival (FQF) will now occur on NOWFE’s original April dates, as a result of the coordinated effort to host the NCAA Women’s Final Four event in New Orleans April 3-5, which were FQF’s original dates. “We appreciate the leaders of our festival organizations working together to make New Orleans the best destination for every visitor,” said Stephen Perry, President & CEO of New Orleans & Co. “This date shuffle also ensures a strong and steady economic impact for our region throughout the spring.”
“New Orleans is known for its unwavering hospitality, and the efforts we are making with other tourism industry entities are right in line with making everyone feel welcome,” said Aimee Brown, NOWFE Executive Director. “When French Quarter Festival decided to move its event to help the NCAA Women’s Final Four be successful, we in turn moved ours to help spread the economic impact across two busy months. We are happy to be working with them to make the date shift possible.” NOWFE is just one event occurring during the spring that has a significant economic impact on the city. The events take place right in the heart of the city, where guests can enjoy the wine and food, shopping, live entertainment, art galleries and museums, and more. “We are thrilled that New Orleans plays host to nationally watched and attended events like the NCAA Women’s Final Four,” said Ewell Smith, incoming NOWFE Board President. “It shines another spotlight on our great city. As one of USA Today’s Top Ten food and wine festivals in America, we are expecting this year to be one of NOWFE’s best events ever to further showcase New Orleans hospitality.”
In 2019, NOWFE has committed 100% of its proceeds to two beneficiaries: including a $15K scholarship to one New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) student and Café Reconcile will receive 100% of the remaining event proceeds. Over NOWFE’s 27-year history, it has donated more than $1.5 Million to local non-profit organizations.
For more than 27 years the New Orleans Wine & Food Experience has showcased the culinary excellence in our community alongside national and international wines at wine dinners in many of the city’s finest restaurants; at VINOLA, a premium tasting event; at the iconic Royal Street Stroll; at dozens of culinary seminars and demonstrations; and ultimately at the Grand Tastings.
