Thank you so much for talking with us Jacob. What is your favorite thing about your career?
You are welcome, thanks for having me! My favorite thing about my career is just waking up and getting to have a job I don’t hate haha. Playing a guitar is definitely a piece of cake compared to building houses like I was doing before music.
You are getting ready to put out your debut album. How did you know when you had the right songs?
Really it was just when I felt like I had all the pieces to my puzzle in there. It took over two years, but I think I’ve got my story mapped out correctly now.
Are there any songs that didn’t make the album that you now wish you included?
Yes, definitely a few. But I can’t say the names, because they will most likely be added to the next project!
You have already released a couple of singles off of the album. But, is there one new song in particular you’re most excited about people hearing?
Yes! Actually there are a few that I’m really looking forward to seeing the response from. One called “Bring You Back,†which is my new single that will be coming out in a few weeks, and another one called “When I Get On a Roll,†that kinda shows my traditional influence a bit.
We love the newest single, “Pour Whiskey On My Grave!†So what is your whiskey of choice?
Jim Beam if I’m mixing and Pappy if I’m drinking it straight.
Tell us a little about making the video for the song.
Yeah absolutely, that one was a blast to shoot. We pretty much just rode Harley’s and cut up on film. I also got to include a lot of my immediate family in the graveyard scene so that was awesome to have them be a part in it as well.
You’ve met a lot of people and musicians during your career. Who has made the biggest impact on you and why?
That I’ve met… hmm… probably Brantley Gilbert. I really admire his work ethic and doing it grass roots style in the early days. As far as influences that I haven’t met, but still played a major role in my sound….they would have to be Keith Whitley, Travis Tritt, Skynyrd, Blackberry Smoke, and many others. I like all kinds of music.
You definitely do your fair share of touring. Where are some of your bucket list places to perform?
The Opry, Red Rocks, and The Garden.
What’s a typical day like for you (food-wise) when you’re at home and how is that different from when you are on tour?
I love to grill, so when I’m home it’s usually fairly healthy, but on the road there is no telling from day to day if we are gonna get Roller food from a truck stop or McDonald’s haha.
In Nashville, what are some of your favorite dishes and where are the best places to find them?
Edley’s – Smoked turkey sandwich and The Local Taco has Southern fried tacos that are the bomb!
Where are some places you recommend for out-of-towners visiting Nashville?
The Station Inn , Country Music Hall Of Fame, and Edley’s of course. Can’t beat that turkey sandwich! Haha
What three things are always in your home refrigerator?
Miller Lite, some kind of pizza, and bottled water
Finally, if you could be sponsored by one food/drink brand who would it be and why?
Definitely Miller Lite or Coors because I’m pretty sure I own stock in the company by now with as many of their fine beverages that I have drank over the years!
