1st trip backstage at the Grand Ole Opry

I was honored with the opportunity of a lifetime by some amazing friends to attend not only the Grand Ole Opry, but be backstage this Saturday, Feb 19, 2011. Wow…not many words can sum up my experience. We got there a little after 7pm, which it def takes a lot to be let in backstage for sure. Two lists and showing ids later we were in, and just in time to catch the beautiful Sunny Sweeney going on. She sings “From a table away” Then I got to take a tour around backstage during the break and saw the heartbreaking flood line that was about as tall as me. But the renovation looked amazing and there are dressing rooms everywhere!! We made our way back to the church pews just in time to see Steve Wariner (“holes in the floor of heaven”, to name one of many great songs), and then got to meet and talk with him while Jack Greene and Connie Smith took the stage. It just happened to be the Turkey Hunters convention this weekend as well so Mike Snider was a host then, Jan Howard and the very talented Andy Griggs played, which had to be THE highlight for me. I tried to see him during CMA fest last year but something came up and he couldn’t make it..disappointing…anyways he rocked it and was of course surrounded by hunters, since he is one himself. Next the Opry Square Dancers performed which was so fun! Especially since our mema would show us how to square dance when we were little kaylor girls. The last two in the lineup were Terri Clark and Craig Morgan. Terri was nice enough to chat and take a picture with me before she went on. All in all I’m pretty sure my Heaven will look like the Grand Ole Opry.
